⛄12 holiday recipes you need to try this holiday season⛄
Who doesn't like Christmassy desserts during the holiday season? This is my favourite time of the year and I love baking different desserts for my family. A lot of us attend or host an adequate amount of parties and I am the one who mostly bakes desserts for mine, so of course I make them more Christmassy and thankfully everybody loves them❤
What is your favourite Holiday season dessert?
Oh, and what do you prefer to drink during the holidays, hot chocolate or eggnog?
Here are some of my favourite Holiday recipes that you should try out this holiday season:
1. Cranberry Christmas Cake
My aunt had come over for a visit and she brought us a jar of dried cranberries. As soon as I saw them, I was like I need to bake something right now and ended up searching for some Christmas desserts with Cranberry. I found this one and since I had all the ingredients for it, I decided to bake it. This cake had a tinge of tangy flavour, which tasted delicious af and it gets ready super quickly with very little ingredients. My family loved this cake!

2. Grinch Cookies
I have been seeing so many Grinch inspired desserts and this was one of them that I came across on Instagram. These cookies were so cute and delicious. You can use any extract you want to change the flavour of your cookies. I wanted to use peppermint extract but only had vanilla at home so I ended up using that. I also sent a batch of it with my brother to his uni and his friends loved em!

3. Hot Chocolate

If you're a hot chocolate lover then you definitely need to try this recipe out! It's thick, creamy, delicious, super easy to make and is perfect for the cold weather. You can definitely get creative with the toppings and decorate it as you want. I decided to simply go with some mini marshmallows.

4. Eggnog Cookies

I had honestly never tried eggnog before because I had mixed feelings about it. While it looks creamy and delicious, it's name and knowing that it has eggs in it made me cringe. I also have friends who absolutely hate Eggnog but some actually do like it. I used to go grocery shopping with the one who hated it, so every time I used to tell her that I wanted to pick up a carton of Eggnog, she would simply tell me that I was going to be wasting my money and that used to scare me lol. Don't blame me, I was broke and hated asking my dad for money. But someone on Bookstagram told me about how delicious it was so when I was looking for some Christmas cookies recipes, I came across this one and decided to make it, only to realize that I needed eggnog for this recipe (I know I'm super dumb lol). There was no way I was going to the store to buy it so I found a recipe online and made some at home. I had also added rum to it but you can skip it if you want a non-alcoholic version of it. At first I couldn't get used to it's taste but after like two more sips, I actually started liking it and these cookies turned out to be super delicious and soft so I guess it was a success hehe.

5. Gingerbread Loaf Cake
I was craving the gingerbread cookies that we used to get in our uni dinning hall but since I didn't have a gingerbread man cookie cutter, I decided to bake a gingerbread cake instead since it was the closest substitute for the cookies lol. It was super soft, moist, delicious and a perfect dessert for the holiday season! You can get creative and decorate it to make it look more Christmassy but I just left it like that because I am didn't have any decorations for it lmao.

6. Baileys Hot Coffee
Okay, but this recipe is heavenly. I had heard a lot about Baileys in hot coffee but wasn't sure how it would taste like but this one was so good. The only drawback was that I had it around 6pm and got a little tipsy (forgive me I am super lightweight lol). I had to finish my assignment but ended up dancing around my room instead so you gotta be careful with it if you're a lightweight too. But other than that it's delicious af and is a perfect boozy drink for the winter season!

7. Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Okay, so I had read In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren and they talked about these bars a couple of times in the book. By the time I finished reading it at 5AM, I was craving them so I woke up the next morning (more like afternoon) and ended up baking them. I didn't expect them to be so good, but again, you can never go wrong with chocolate chip recipes hehe.

8. Cardamom Latte
I honestly had never heard about Cardamom Latte until I googled some easy Christmas recipes and found one. Surprisingly it was delicious and super easy to make, plus it smelled so good!

9. Baileys chocolate cake

I made this cake for my mum's birthday in December 2 years ago and it was a hit! It was super chocolaty and delicious. It was my second time baking and frosting a whole ass cake and I was super proud of myself for how it turned out to be!

10. No-Bake Chocolate Pie

Oh, I will forever remember this pie as the best and the worst thing that had happened to me. I usually make this and it gets ready super quickly and everyone ends up loving it but you know you shouldn't be overconfident because I was like, I am gonna make this one super fast just a night before we hosted a Christmas eve dinner. So this was the only dessert we had planned for the dinner and if I messed it up, it meant we would have to buy something from outside which I didn't want. And *drum roll* I messed it up lol. But thankfully I fixed it and it turned out to be super delicious and chocolaty. Read the whole incident on my post for No-Bake Chocolate Pie.

11. Fairy Bread
Fairy bread is a snack usually served at kids parties in New Zealand and Australia and they aren't exactly Christmas desserts but I replaced the thousands and thousands sprinkles with my Christmas themed sprinkles and put em on the table. They actually looked so pretty and you can definitely serve these as snacks for kids on Christmas parties!

12. Gingerbread Man Cookies

I used to love the gingerbread man cookies that we used to get in my uni dinning hall and I have been craving them ever since I left my residence. For the past two years, I have been wanting to make these cookies but didn't have the cutter so I avoided it but this year my friend lent me her cookie cutter. Thanks to her, I was able to make them🤩 I know my cookies look traumatized but this was the first time I made them and clicked the picture of my very first batch. I realized that the cookie dough that I rolled out was super thin and I needed to thicken it and bake it for a shorter time than mentioned in the recipe. The rest of the batches came out perfectly without being burnt. My lazy ass also didn't use any colour pens since I didn't have them and I didn't want to go to the store to buy them. I made the sugar syrup at home, divided them into different bowls, added the food colouring to it and used a toothpick to draw the eyes and the mouth. Hence, why it's super light and uneven lol. I used the red and green balls from my sprinkles instead of drawing the buttons on them. They don't compare to the ones that I used to get in uni but I still loved these cookies! Anyways, is it even a Christmas without the gingerbread men?
